L to R: George, Hy, Helen Anna known as'Babe', mother Sarah, Rebecca, and father Rabbi Jacob Kaplan. Sarah was my grandfather's oldest sibling, daughter of Chaim and Scheina (Sadie in America) Dumes. Jacob had come to Vishki to study with a rabbi who was famous in the region, and he found room and board at the Dumes household. <br><br>Some time ago, Harry and Caroline Lieberman recorded some family history questions they posed to Babe Kaplan Bennett on a cassette, and so I was able to transcribe some of her stories, such as this one. Babe said it was a great honor for them to have a student. And before too long, Jacob and Sarah were married.
